Special Planning Program for Rue Principale in Saint-Amable

of land dedicated to redevelopment
of planned park space
of active transportation facilities
A structuring SPP that reconnects the downtown core, supports housing supply, and adapts built forms to the current needs of the population.
At the request of the City of Saint-Amable, a special urban plan was developed for the Main Street sector, corresponding to its downtown area. One of the objectives was to ensure the creation of an active link between the heart of the downtown area and the youth hub located at the eastern end of the targeted sector. Furthermore, this initiative aimed to review authorized building typologies and sizes to better address the housing crisis as well as the current and semi-current needs of the population, in immediate proximity to their place of residence.
The Special Urban Plan (PPU) also falls within a context of redevelopment and intensification of the sector, in response to the observed and anticipated demographic growth in Saint-Amable. Its strategic location, near major transportation routes and in direct relation to the employment hubs of Montreal and the South Shore, gives the sector structuring potential for welcoming new households and strengthening urban vitality.
