The revision of Rouyn-Noranda's land use plan updates territorial planning to guide coherent, sustainable development based on citizen participation.
The revision of Rouyn-Noranda’s land use plan is a collective process aimed at planning the area’s development for the coming years. Since the City of Rouyn-Noranda exercises both the responsibilities of a city and the powers of a RCM (Regional County Municipality), the land use plan is a central tool for guiding the organization of the territory, in both urban and rural settings.
This revision allows for updating the planning to ensure compliance with new governmental guidelines for land use planning (OGAT). The land use plan will also serve to guide the content of the urban plan and zoning bylaws, which concretely regulate development and land uses. The process places significant emphasis on citizen participation, to gather the needs, concerns, and aspirations of the population. Public contributions will help guide decisions related to the environment, housing, mobility, economic development, and quality of life, within a coherent and sustainable vision for the territory.
