Landscape design concept for a rail transshipment site

Upton2022

A landscape screen designed to integrate rail activities while reducing their impacts on the surrounding environment.

The project relies on a structural landscape design, where a vegetated buffer strip and a significant embankment reinforce the presence of greenery, integrate infrastructure into the site, and mitigate the visual impacts of Route 116, while organizing access and functions within a safe and coherent framework. The placement of buildings and roadways is part of an overall composition designed to preserve views, structure the landscape, and ensure a clear understanding of the site. The selected vegetation, through both the choice of species and their spatial organization, aims to create a natural and integrated appearance in continuity with the surrounding landscape. The increased vegetation thus contributes to forming a durable natural screen, promoting better integration of the project into its immediate environment.
