An intersection transformed into a welcoming public space
As part of a Municipal initiative to review the design of strategic segments of its road network in order to improve the safety and user-friendliness of active transportation, a detailed concept was developed for the redevelopment of the area around the intersection of Montée de la Baie and Boulevard de la Chapelle in Pointe-Calumet. This approach also aimed to leverage these interventions to reinforce the municipal identity through high-quality design features, incorporating the Municipality’s distinctive colours.
The new intersection, built with concrete pavers, incorporates distinctive markings, plantings, and adaptable street furniture, helping to create a welcoming and safe environment for pedestrians and cyclists. The mandate included producing 3D models, interprofessional coordination, formulating recommendations for project implementation, as well as preparing the plans and specifications, the cost estimate, and construction supervision.
