The Geomatics Specialist / GIS Analyst at APUR applies their analytical eye and mastery of geospatial tools to support the understanding and transformation of the territory.

As a Geomatics Specialist / GIS Analyst, you play a key role in leveraging spatial data to inform urban planning, land-use planning, and environmental projects.

You transform complex data into clear analyses, relevant maps, and decision-support tools. Your work helps reveal territorial dynamics and brings a concrete dimension to the projects led by our teams.

You are responsible for managing, analyzing, and leveraging geospatial data to support urban planning, infrastructure, and environmental projects.

The duties associated with the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Model, structure, and manage geospatial databases
  • Integrate, maintain, and improve GIS databases
  • Conduct spatial and statistical analyses of the territory
  • Query databases (SQL) to produce territorial diagnostics
  • Produce thematic maps and visualizations tailored to projects
  • Analyze aerial photographs and remote sensing data
  • Design visual simulations and land-use planning scenarios
  • Develop and automate processing workflows (Python scripts, GIS tools)
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity
  • Contribute to the design and evolution of geomatics architectures
  • Collaborate closely with urban planners, engineers, and other experts
  • Integrate field data into GIS systems (QGIS)

What We Are Looking For

The selected candidate will stand out through their leadership and will be called upon to design and deliver mandates that are both analytical and creative (e.g., spatial modeling, development of innovative solutions in urban planning and land-use regulation).

In this context, the firm is seeking a Geomatics Specialist / GIS Analyst with the following knowledge and skills:

  • University degree (B.A.) in geomatics, geography, or a related field
  • At least 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent command of GIS tools (QGIS)
  • Strong command of databases (SQL, PostgreSQL/PostGIS)
  • Strong skills in spatial analysis and data processing
  • Strong command of map projections, combined with a well-developed artistic sense to design maps that are both informative and visually appealing, showcasing both the data and its graphic representation.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment (urban planning, environment, infrastructure)
  • Rigor, analytical mindset, and initiative
  • Bilingualism (French/English)
